HPLC analysis of β-caryophyllene in copaiba oleoresin: Development, validation and applicability

Copaiba oil (CO) is an oleoresin containing resinous acids, comprising mainly of diterpenes, and volatile compounds, sesquiterpenes. CO has been used for many years as a therapeutic agent cosmetic, being the β-caryophyllene (CAR) one main sesquiterpene markers found in samples. During last years, some analytical methods have developed analysis sesquiterpenes like CAR from CO. However, these are based on gas chromatography, requiring additional steps, such derivatization or extraction essential fraction analysis. Liquid chromatography methodologies proposed only diterpenes. Therefore, aim this study was to develop high-performance liquid (HPLC) assay samples (Copaifera reticulata Ducke) emulsion systems The HPLC system suitability determined through capacity factor, repeatability, relative retention, resolution, tailing theoretical plate number height plate; where method showed efficiency separation compounds. validated displaying specificity, linearity, precision, accuracy, robustness. Moreover, it be utmost importance analyze systems, versatile applicability.
